What We Do: The Gold Standard in Chip Spreader Restoration

We don't just repair your Used Chip Spreader, we revitalize it. At Rocky Mountain Rebuild, we perform everything from a quick fix to a long-term investment.

Whether you're looking for expert repair or a ground-up premium rebuild, our goal is to ensure your machine is ready the moment it hits the job site.

Repair vs. Rebuild: Understanding the Difference

While many shops focus on what is broken now, we focus on what could fail later.

  • A Repair addresses known issues. It is a targeted solution to get a machine back in operation by fixing existing faults. We consult with you, agree on the needs, and fix the machine to good operating condition according to your needs and budget.
  • The "Chip Ready" Program takes repair work even further.  We perform a full 28 point inspection on your used chip spreader and look not only for what's broken now, but what may be in danger of failing going forward.  Hoses, rubber, hardware, pumps--all will fail at different times  but will usually show signs of critical wear before they fail completely.   Our Chip Ready Program is a specialized repair service where we perform a rigorous inspection and address all critical wear items to ensure your repaired machine is functional, reliable, and "Chip Ready" for the foreseeable future, without the higher cost of a full premium rebuild.
  • A Premium Rebuild takes on the possibility of future failure. We completely strip our rebuild machines to their essential frame and drivetrain, sandblast rust, wear and old finishes off, repaint everything with premium finishes in our state of the art paint booth, and then rebuild the entire machine with premium components to give you a like new machine, for a fraction of the cost. We proactively replace all the wear and tear components throughout the heart of the machine to ensure years of uninterrupted service.

Our Premium Rebuild Process

A premium rebuild is a total transformation.

We strip the machine to its core and replace almost everything—inside and out. Our current standard is a meticulous 800-man-hour process that takes a machine from teardown to the finish bay in approximately six weeks.

1. Teardown & Inspection

We begin with a comprehensive pre-build inspection. We identify any structural issues and perform all necessary welding and fabrication before the machine moves to the next stage.

2. Blast & Paint

To ensure a factory-quality finish, we blast the machine to bare metal and repaint it before reassembly begins. By blasting first, we ensure that abrasive dust never finds its way into your new hydraulic components or wheel ends.

3. 100% Component Replacement

Because chip spreaders are hydraulic-heavy machines, we replace 100% of the following:
• Pumps, motors, and hydraulic hoses
• Fittings, air valves, and cylinders
• Rollers, rubber seals, and conveyor belting
• Engine hoses, clamps, and all electrical wiring

4. Precision Power Train Care

We find that 99% of engines and differentials do not require a full overhaul. To keep costs efficient for our clients, we perform a deep-dive fluid analysis and inspection. We dump all fluids and inspect for gear wear or internal debris. If there are no leaks or fluid issues, we maintain the original power train, passing that significant cost saving on to you.

5. Finish & Reassembly

The machine enters the finish bay for final assembly. This is where we install the new controls and complete the final mechanical integrations.

Quality Assurance & Accountability

We believe in transparency. Our quality control isn't a final check—it’s a multi-step protocol integrated into every segment of the build. We perform and sign off on inspections at every milestone:
• Pre-Fab & Post-Fab
• Pre-Blast & Post-Blast
• Pre-Paint & Post-Paint
• Pre-Finish & Post-Finish (Final Sign-off)
Every technician is held accountable for their stage of the process, ensuring that the machine you receive meets our exacting standards.
